"We are taught how to read and write, but not given the necessary tools to manage our emotions, attitudes and beliefs. So much of what I see in the Emergency Department is preventable, it's time to be the ambulance at the top off the cliff"

Dr Tom Mulholland is no ordinary doctor. He is an ED clinician, extreme sportsman and all round crazy kind of guy. Meet him on the street or in the supermarket and you would never suspect that in your hour of need in the emergency room of your local hospital, it is Dr Tom that may well be there to save your life.
In ED he has seen it all, but what he does see more and more of, are preventable medical problems and he’s concerned.

Tired of being there picking up the pieces, in 2015 Dr Tom is on a Mission. He has converted a St. John’s Ambulance into a mobile doctor’s clinic and headed out into New Zealand to join the local GPs and clinics, nurses and small rural hospitals in their fight to bring greater awareness and promote healthier lifestyles.

“This is a 5-year mission to change the Health, Attitude, Motivation and Performance of New Zealanders. We’re not talking about it we are getting out there and preventing illness"

Not that he is a stranger to going above and beyond the call of duty. On top of a first class honours degree in molecular biology, a medical degree and a sports medicine diploma, Dr Tom has been a forest ranger, survived a tidal wave in Java, Indonesia, has his pilot’s licence, climbed mountains, toured as a stand-up comedian, dived with sharks and even surfed huge waves. He was also awarded the New Zealand Defence Force Special Services Medal for his medical relief work during the Boxing Day Tsunami.

He is an International best-selling author and has done hundreds of talks for Companies like Google, Microsoft and Hilton on Health, Motivation and Attitude. A current ambassador for Farmstrong (FMG and The Mental Health Foundation) he is teaching Healthy Thinking Tools to communities and schools.

"Healthy Thinking may not change your life, but it may save your life" - Warwick Grey, Microsoft.
