Rare opportunity for Wairarapa community development sector

Professor Edgar Cahn, widely known as the founder of Timebanking, will give a public presentation in Masterton on Monday 31st August.

Cahn, a Distinguished Professor of Law, has come from the US to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Timebanking in New Zealand and is presenting in only three locations: Masterton, Wellington and Christchurch City, before joining with Timebankers in Lyttelton to celebrate this significant milestone.

Dr Cahn is regarded as a founder of poverty law, a pioneer in creating clinical legal education, the founder of a global TimeBanking movement, and a social justice innovator undertaking to incorporate system change in legal education and inject co-production into service delivery and community development.

‘We are grateful to Masterton District Council for supporting Cahn’s visit to the Wairarapa’ said Wairarapa Timebank member Helen Dew.

Cahn’s presentation, followed by Q & A, will be at the Frank Cody Lounge, Masterton Town Hall on Monday 31st August, 10am – 12 noon.
This event is for anyone keen to explore new ways of partnering, solving issues and getting people involved, including: Local authorities (elected members and staff), not-for-profit organisations, Government departments, disaster management, health, agencies, schools, community groups and any others interested.
Expect to be informed, inspired, and to imagine wide-ranging possibilities for collaborative action to enhance community wellbeing in the Wairarapa.
