Discover the Power of Storytelling
Facilitated by Linda Hansen

Storytelling is an effective tool in the workplace, in community and family life.
Re-discover, revive and refresh your authentic Storyteller’s voice!

Linda is an experienced storyteller, tutor and twice-published author with a wealth of knowledge to share, including tips from her recent time with London’s Master Storyteller, Ben Haggerty.

Open up your intuition and imagination and release the storyteller within you through entertaining exercises and useful information, including storytelling skills from ancient India that are still effective today.

Take a day out in a quiet inner-city location.
Workshop is limited to 12 people.
No previous experience needed.

Topics include:
- How to craft a story
- How to bring ease and confidence to your speaking skills
- How to remember and tell a story
-How to move your audience through the range of human emotions
- How Storytelling bridges cultural, linguistic and age-related divides
- How Storytelling can confront conflict when direct action is inadvisable
- How Storytelling engages the full responses of both teller and listener
- How Storytelling is our natural and fundamental form of communication

What should I bring?
- food to share for a light lunch - tea and coffee provided
- pen and paper
- a short simple myth or legend that you know well

About the facilitator:
Linda is an experienced adult tutor, storyteller and author.
After a career in the communications industry: (Radio NZ, Volunteer Service Abroad, Parliament, Communications lecturer at Massey and other universities) she has returned to storytelling and writing simply for pleasure.
In December 2014 her second book, ‘An Unexpected Hero’ (see www.lphansen.co.nz) was published, receiving excellent reviews.
Storytelling takes many forms and Linda has recently returned from the UK where she was not only promoting her book but also learning about ancient storytelling skills made new again by Ben Haggerty, founder of London’s Crick Crack Storytelling Club 25 years ago. During her workshop, she will share these with students.
A professional storyteller for ten-plus years, Linda enjoys developing people’s innate storytelling skills. She finds this helps many to find their authentic voice and boosts confidence in public and workplace situations.
Stories engage our right brain and imagination. Through story, we access creativity that is the fount of innovation, self-discovery and change. Above all, stories are powerful persuaders, inviting others - clients, colleagues, friends or an audience - into closer relationship.
