Coastguard North Shore is on call 24 hour a day. Manned by volunteers, and often dealing with emergency call outs, these heroes of the sea go out in all weathers and deal with everything from helping boats having run out of fuel, towing stranded boats to shore, being involved in dramatic sea rescues, and in general helping save people’s lives at sea.

Come and hear John Drake, President of Coastguard North Shore, talk about the dedication and courage of the Coastguard, the many aspects of the work they do, and the work and commitment involved in becoming a coastguard.

Coastguard North Shore consists of 53 active volunteers, including 6 skippers. They have a 9.5 metre AMF alloy rescue boat and are based in the Browns Bay Marine Centre at Browns Bay. They provide coverage of the huge Hauraki Gulf area and, over the last seven years, have been involved in over 1400 rescues and providing assistance to people.

Join us for morning tea 10.30am, with the talk beginning at 10.45am. Everyone is welcome.
