Ceramics Studies Part 2: Tableware // Adults 212
Kairava Gullatz

Studio One offers four consecutive clay courses taught by Kairava Gullatz over one year to give insight into different aspects of ceramic design and art including sculpture, tableware, casting and tiles/wall plaques. Participants will gain a thorough knowledge of the processes of a ceramic studio including designing new forms, learning about ceramic techniques and the procedures of a small production line. Courses can be booked one-by-one. This quarter Ceramic Studies will focus on tableware. Students will form and decorate extraordinary and fully functional tableware. Enjoy the creative process of shaping clay with your hands into bowls, mugs, platters and more. Various techniques will be demonstrated like making vessels from slabs, using moulds, or building larger sized pots from coils. A pottery wheel is also available to explore the process of throwing. Students will develop skills to adorn their pots using paper patterns and ceramic slips and experience the process of glazing and stacking a kiln. Visit Kairava’s website: ceramicdesign.co.nz
