The choir was founded initially with school-leavers from Aorere College but has since expanded its membership to include a singers of various ethnic backgrounds, ages & locations within the Auckland region. Both Pene and Amaitai Pati are former members of the Choir singing in the tenor section for many years until they began their higher-level music and opera studies overseas.
