A WW1 Centenary Exhibition with a difference...we're kicking off the memorial homage to all the people affected by wars past, present and the future on the day Germany & the Austro-Hungarian Empire declared war on Serbia, 28th July 2014.

A group of fringe outsider artists have taken it upon themselves to declare war on war! Four main artists; Ruth Bioletti, Max Grey, MLE Brown & Katharine de Montalk are expressing their viewpoint through their art. Ruth, who specialises in portraiture, has been an active artist in the Auckland underground art and poetry scene. Her oil painting of Captain Charles Upham has been well received by military circles and will be on display at this event. Max Grey is an Military Abstract artist that paints large apocalyptic scenes of war. His "Soldier where is your rifle?" is one of those canvases that come into view as you recede!

MLE Brown grew up in Devonport with her family, her father was in the military and she is well acquainted with the realities of the effect of war on fathers, her canvas "Wraiths of the Somme" is an eye-opener. Katharine de Montalk is our ethereal intellectual artist going to Russia to find inspiration with her with "Maria Bochkareva". She was a leader of the battalion of death...an all woman battalion! Then Kath makes a connection with the Pussy Riots activists of the present day.

There's going to be paintings, wartime food & drinks, visuals/audio & ReEnactors & Theoradical Hobohemian poet Jeremy Beale who served 8 years in the British Royal Marines and fought in the Falklands War...one of his poems, he is going to recite about 9pm, is called "War is an Angry Flower". Free entry, one night only. Lift access, look for sandwich board, posters and soldier on Krd just past St Kevin's Arcade, opposite George Courts apartments. Seeya there.
