About This Course:
Caroline is an experienced tutor, with international experience, and her courses are very popular. The Wordsmith Playwriting 1 course is designed for beginner dramatists and emerging playwrights. Each session consists of a lecture, exercises and workshop. The topics covered include inspiration, dramatic storytelling, structure, character, conflict, dramatic irony, location, narrative, story, plot, the principles of dialogue and how to create a scene.

Caroline Lark is a playwright, poet, fiction writer and artist. Radio NZ has broadcast her radio plays, and her latest stage play, Eros, was produced by the Court Theatre, Christchurch, in September 2010. Her poetry is widely published in UK and New Zealand, also in literary journals in Australia and France. Her poems are collected in the Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Poetry Library, London, and recorded on the Aotearoa New Zealand Poetry Sound Archive, Alexander Turnbull Library, Wellington. The poetry collection, A Messy Affair, is to be published by Steele Roberts (2010). She was the winner of the Hazard Press/Quote Unquote Short Fiction Award (1995) with her novella Days. There have been six exhibitions of her paintings and prints in England and New Zealand. She graduated (BEd Hons) from the University of Cambridge, UK, in Fine Arts, Psychology and Philosophy of Education and has a Postgraduate Diploma in English Studies from Anglia Ruskin University.
