"Women and AIDS" (1996, Top Shelf Productions, 32 mins, Exempt) screens alongside "Lew Pryme: Welcome to My World" (1990, dir. Amanda Millar and Max Adams, 48 mins, Exempt).

"Women and AIDS" was filmed in New Zealand, Australia and the United States. The documentary includes interviews with mothers who've discovered they are HIV+, the doctors who treat them, and looks at how the women themselves cope.

"Lew Pryme: Welcome to My World" focuses on 1960s pop star, promoter and executive director of Auckland Rugby Union, Lew Pryme - who died on 23 April 1990. A year earlier, Lew and his partner of 12 years, Jeff, were both diagnosed with AIDS. Together they cope with illness and plan for their remaining days.

This screening runs in conjunction with "30," our current moving image exhibition, which reflects on HIV AIDS in New Zealand: http://www.filmarchive.org.nz/now-showing/30/
