Keen to learn some skills to feel confident in forest orienteering? Wanting to take the next step in the pathfinders? Or is navigation for adventure racing more your thing? To learn some navigation skills that can help with all of these, come along to the Whangarei Orienteering skills evening.

National team member Tom Reynolds will run an evening session aimed at giving Whangarei's runners a solid grounding in orienteering techniques. He will go over the absolute fundamentals of orienteering, from reading the map to a system for having a solid plan for each leg. The session will cater for those orienteers who have been along to at least one pathfinder event up to those who have dabbled in a bit of forest orienteering.

The night will be around 1.5-2 hours and will be at Whangarei Girls High on Thursday 31st July. Park at Manse st end of Lupton ave, enter gate walk along hedged path that goes past the Whare, to a carpark on the left with be room 46 where the evening is to be held. There will be some signs to direct you.

Please bring along your compass if you have one. The session will be indoors, so no need to bring running gear.
