A Rare and Curious Country Garden Tour

Sorry this event has been and gone

  • Sun 19 Oct ’14, 10:00am – 4:00pm

Wainuioru School, Masterton Stronvar Rd, Wainuioru, Masterton

All Ages

This unique Garden Tour will be a leisurely indulgent day in the country. This is a rare chance to wander inside the gates of three large private country gardens in the Wairarapa, opening to support their local Wainuioru Primary School and Community. With just three gardens you can take your time and enjoy all the extra's we will have on offer at each one - no need to race around in your car. Be intrigued by the history that links all three gardens, be fascinated with the out buildings at Brancepeth and get inspiration for your own garden, all the while enjoying fresh food stalls, coffee or perhaps a wine by the lake at Te Parae.

At each garden there are various activities including...
Fresh food stalls | Free garden talks | Devonshire tea | Tables to Relax | Country Fete | Coffee Cart | History | Book Signing | Plant Sale | Sweet Treats and more

This Garden Tour includes...

Brancepeth- View this impressive category 1 historic homestead set amongst enormous trees and many curious outbuildings - experience a rare piece of NZ pastoral history. There will be signed copies of the latest book - 'In the Boars Path: Brancepeth' available to purchase. You can meet and chat with the authors and experts on this history and of course view the impressive trees and garden. Lawn refreshments available to buy.

Morland - a sheltered established garden of English and Native trees with breath taking spring flowers. Indulge in a freshly made Devonshire Tea and then sit and listen to any of our three free garden talks which includes: Garden Structure and Great Plants with Lyn Eglinton | Bees and getting started at home | A natural backyard system of compost, chickens and vegetables. We will also have a little country garden plant sale.

Te Parae - be swept away in this magnificent setting of established trees beside a large lake looking across to pink Rhododendrons. There will be delicious gourmet food stalls for you to buy your lunch or a snack and plenty of gorgeous places to sit and relax with friends. Urlar wines will be selling wine by the glass and there will be a little country fete for you to find something irresistable.

We hope you will join us on Sunday 19th October 2014 and come to this magical part of the country. This is a major fundraiser for our lovely little country school (roll of 94) and every effort will be made to ensure you have an unforgettable day with us here as we spoil you with our friendly country hospitality.

This very special tour will be signposted from Faulknors Service Station on the corner of Opaki and Te Ore Ore Roads, Masterton.

Tickets will be limited, so book yours before it's too late.
