Anton Chekhov's great masterpiece The Three Sisters is the Butterfly Creek Theatre Troupe's winter production, being performed in the Muritai School Hall from July 17-19 and July 24-26. The play, directed by Emanuel Garcia, centres around three Moscow-born sisters, Irina, Masha and Olga, who now live in the provinces with their brother Andrei who later marries the rather awkward Natalia. The play, first performed in Moscow in 1901, centres around fading hopes and dreams, as the three sisters dream of a better life and face the reality of their hopes fading as time passes. The production features a strong, mostly local cast, music composed by Ray Dickenson, period costumes and backdrops inspired by another great Russian artist Marc Chagall.
