What is the most important thing you would take with you if you had to flee to your country ? This is one of the questions Bryan Sokol, a photographer for UNHCR, asked refugees staying in camps in Burkina Faso, Turkey, Lebanon or South Sudan. From take simple question came out amazing pictures and truthfull captions showing the reality of the Refugee Journey: fear, pain, survival instincts... but also determination, hope and love.

For the Expo, we decided to show a few of Bryan Sokol's pictures and ask the Refugee communities of Hamilton: "Now that you are here, in New Zealand, what is the most important thing for you?". With the help of a Kiwi photographer, we captured the stories of Colombians, Congoloese and Burmese families, sharing their hopes, joys and how new zealand became their new home.

The Opening of the Expo will be on the 20th June (Refugee Day) from 6pm to 8pm. We will have guest speakers from the Refugee communities and agencies involved in this project as well as some ethnic food and drinks.

The exhibition will be displayed at Cafe Agora from 20/06 to 31/07.
