Exciting news - Our annual Summer School is being offered in a new weekend format this year! Join us for a special workshop series on Wellington Anniversary weekend to get clear on your direction for 2014.

Want to kick off 2014 with energy and intention? Have you been longing to go on a yoga retreat but just can't seem to fit one into your busy schedule? If you said yes to any of the above, then Summer School at Urban Yoga is for you!

Kelly Fisher and David Driscole will be offering you the chance to kick start your yoga year with five sessions, each based on a different natural element. Whether you are holidaying in the city, or working over summer this amazing opportunity to start the year off well.

Details
The series is designed to be taken all together for a powerful transformative effect. It may seem like a lot of practice for one weekend but we've planned it to be a good mix of asana, pranayama, contemplation and meditation so that the overall result is a sense of being strengthened and supported for the year ahead, rather than depleted and exhausted.

Friday, January 17. 6:00 - 8:30pm Earth – Standing
We’ll start off the workshop by grounding ourselves with the Earth element (Prithivi). The particles of energy in Earth are tightly packed and vibrate at a low frequency, thus we experience earth as dense, solid and heavy. Prithivi brings qualities of steadfast commitment, patience and humility. Standing postures will help us cultivate earth in ourselves and give us a solid foundation upon which to build our vision for 2014.

Saturday, January 18. 9:00 - 11:30am. Water - Hip Openers
The Water element (Apas) is the cool, flowing, accommodating juice of life. Water is more mobile than earth and is vital to our life and creativity. It brings qualities of sensitivity, receptivity and creativity. We will use a flowing practice to deepen into our hip openers and unlock our creative potential.

Saturday, January 18. 1:30 - 4:00pm. Fire - Core Strength and Twisting
Fire (Agni) is the hot, sharp, transformative force behind any change, growth or evolution. Agni brings qualities of initiative, drive, passion and confidence. We will delve into our core strength with a strong practice of core strengthening, twists and maybe some arm balances! This session is unmissable if you're serious about your commitments for the coming year.

Sunday, January 19. 9:00 - 11:30am. Air - Heart Openers
The Air element (Vayu) is the dry, changeable, kinetic energy of the universe. Vayu brings qualities of intellectual dexterity, perspective and mental flexibility. It enhances our capacity to connect with others around us. We will use backbends and partner postures to leverage the dynamism of Air.

Sunday, January 19. 1:30 - 4:00pm. Space/ether - Inversions, Restoratives, Pranayma and Mediation
The Space/Ether element (Akasha) is the vast open spaciousness within which all of the matter of the universe becomes existent. Ether is formless and limitless. Ether is thought to govern our emotions and passions. We will enjoy a very special practice to help you settle into the vastness where you have greater access to your own deepest wisdom and nature.

Come to the whole Urban Intensive for $170. For those early birds, pay just $150 if you book and pay by December 10.

After January 15, if space permits, we will be allowing single module bookings for $45 each so you can choose your own custom adventure.
