Steve Rood: Post Headlands Residency Discussion

16 October 2014, 1:30pm, Drawing Room, Reservations required (no charge)

As part of ARTWEEK 2014 join artist Steve Rood for a Q & A session, post completion of his recent residency at Headlands Centre for the Arts in Sausalito, California.

Rood’s residency was made possible by the James Wallace Arts Trust and Fulbright New Zealand, as he was the recipient of the Fulbright-Wallace Arts Trust Award 2013.

Rood decamped to California in March and has returned with a new body of work that seeks to expand notions of the photographic and explore a transitional place between photography and video. Central to Rood’s work is the conviction that Eadweard Muybridge's innovative Horse in Motion work in the 1870s not only provided photography’s transition from still image to moving image, but also offers valuable and as yet un-utilised insights to photography’s evolution to digital.

Hear about Rood’s experiences in California, his research, inspirations and the outcomes of his residency. If you have a question for Steve Rood, please email enquiries@wallaceartstrust.org.nz or bring your questions with you to the talk.

To reserve a seat please email enquiries@wallaceartstrust.org.nz or phone 09 639 2010.
