Saint Emilion is a fascinating area! Often it flies under the radar, when in fact it is one of the oldest and most established wine producing areas in Bordeaux with a rich history dating back to 1199.

The terroir in Saint Emilion varies vastly from property to property and as a result, there is no one unified flavour profile representative of the area. Sandy soils produce wines which are lighter and fruitier while vines from clay or limestone produce wines which are richer and generally longer lasting. Merlot provides a soft texture, luscious richness and concentration and is expertly blended with Cabernet Franc which offers a delicate aromatic quality.

2009 is an illustrious vintage from Saint Emilion and these wines are well worth investigating!
