With a pulsating rock score by Elton John and cleverly crafted lyrics by Tim Rice, this Disney original pop musical version of Aida has breathed new life into the bittersweet fable which has captured the hearts and imaginations of millions of romantics for over a century. Songs such as ‘Written in the Stars’, ‘Every Story Is a Love Story’ and ‘Fortune Favors the Brave’, are part of the musical score of Aida, for which the 2000 Original Broadway Cast recording won the Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album.

The story of Aida is that of a classic love triangle, set against a backdrop of loyalty, betrayal, and forbidden love. Under the Direction of David Sidwell, we are taken from the Egyptian wing of a modern museum back to Ancient Egypt, where Aida, a Nubian princess, is captured by an Egyptian captain, Radames. He soon falls in love with her and saves her from a life of hard labour by offering her as a handmaiden to the Egyptian princess Amneris, his future bride. The principal characters are torn between their love for each other, which turns everything upside down and forces them to make difficult choices, which will alter history forever.
