  • 3 day course: $260.00

This course will make stone carving an accessible medium. Using relatively soft Oamaru stone, participants will learn carving techniques and 3D design skills. From design, through to finishing, our practised tutor Anna Korver shares her knowledge and expertise to create depth and form in stone. Participants will learn carving using hand tools, different carving techniques, texturing, polishing, sealing, colouring, drilling, plinths / bases and installation and will also receive information about carving hard stone. This course will cover it all - giving a great base for the absolute beginner or refining processes for the more experienced.

The Summer Do Art School is the longest running mixed media art school in New Zealand and is proudly planned and hosted by the Quarry Arts Centre. Oamaru Stone Carving with tutor Anna Korver is one of the 10 courses being held during the 2014 Summer Do.

The Summer Do provides professional art courses lead by tutors who stand out in their field of practice. Within the Summer Do are up to ten 7, 4 and 3 days courses covering a variety of media and disciplines. Participants are invited to join us by enrolling in a Summer Do course taking the opportunity to learn something new or perfect existing techniques in a stimulating fun encouraging environment.

The Summer Do also includes informal tutor talks, which are open to the public, the Summer Do Tutors Exhibition in the Yvonne Rust Gallery and an assortment of relaxed evening activities.

The Summer Do runs from 9am Sunday 5th to 4.30 Saturday the 11th January 2013, courses scheduled within that. The Quarry Arts Centre provides a inspirational creative environment just minutes from central Whangarei at 21 Selwyn Ave.
