This panel discussion is Session 20 in the Recovering Forbidden Voices Conference, a conference of presentations and performances, hosted by NZSM and the History and German Programmes of Victoria University of Wellington.

Dr Margalit Shlain – Beit Theresienstadt – Israel – via internet link– Cultural life in the Theresienstadt Ghetto: 'People carry their culture with them wherever they go. Theresienstadt Ghetto's story teaches us that evil atrocities and walls can't limit human spirit, which prevails even under the most horrible circumstances. The reach cultural life of the ghetto underlines the triumph of the Jewish prisoners, as their unique manifestation of resistance.'
