Come and experience nature at night first-hand. Easy early evening walk through native bush with glowworms, native fish and tui. You will be guided by Helen, a local Bay of Islands Department of Conservation ranger. You may be lucky enough to see or hear rare and endangered endemic birds such as the North Island Brown Kiwi and North Island weka.

You must be at the Walking Weekend HQ (The Duke of Marlborough Tavern) 30 minutes before your walk starts for registration and briefing. A disclaimer will need to be signed prior to your first walk.

New this Year for those who love Food!
“Food” is the Bay of Islands premier food festival, the culinary festival has a stellar line-up of chefs, restaurants, producers, wineries and breweries. Every half hour there will be cooking demonstrations from local culinary producers. And of course live music. Food is an open event so it’s open to everyone, walkers and non walkers, as long as you are hungry you are advised to attend!
