The Walking Weekend’s Signature Walk, Cape Brett itself is undeniably sublime. In a private charter water taxi you will take the one hour trip to the bottom of the Cape Brett lighthouse. Passing the Bay’s many islands and the world class Hole in the Rock, then conquer the steepest and most challenging leg of the walkway with its rocky cliffs, high winds and handsome vistas. The adventure takes you from the Lighthouse, matriarch of the Cape, to Deep Water Cove a one time game fishing village frequented by Zane Grey. Once a prolific and special fishing area for Maori, the cove is now under rahui (temporary closure) and home to the HMNZS Canterbury, sunk as a diving wreck.

Sat 4th 8am

Sun 5th 8am

Category: A good level of Fitness Required.
NB: In case of bad weather the walk will change to Pukehuia.
Max. Walkers: 20

You must be at the Walking Weekend HQ (The Duke of Marlborough Tavern) 30 minutes before your walk starts for registration and briefing. A disclaimer will need to be signed prior to your first walk.
