“Microbirth” examines how modern birth practices could be interfering with critical biological processes making our children more susceptible to disease later in life. For example recent studies have shown babies born by Caesarean have an increased risk of developing asthma, type 1 diabetes, obesity and other diseases linked to the immune system. Research also shows that the process of vaginal birth which involves a cocktail of hormones for mother and baby in labour, sets the foundation of our immune system such that by-passing natural birth can have adverse consequences.

Tickets can also be bought by direct Bank transfer by sending an email to midwifedenise@vodafone.co.nz for the account details so we can send you back proof of purchase.

Please bring a plate of healthy finger food to share for supper and discussion afterwards.

Any funds raised from this event after paying all costs will be shared between the Maternity Services consumer Council (www.maternity.org.nz) and the Maternity Manifesto (www.maternitymanifesto.org.nz),
