When the doors of Nelson Provincial Museum open at 7am on Anzac Day there will be a special display in the Museum foyer comprising photographs and images of collection objects related to the involvement of regional men and women who served in World War One.

There will also be access to the database of soldiers, sailors, doctors, nurses, Chaplains and airmen from this region who served in NZ armed forces or in those of Britain or Australia. It is hoped that volunteer workers and members of the merchant navy will also be identified and added to this database in time for the opening of the main exhibition in August this year. Regional families hold many of these records in their personal memorabilia and it is hoped that the names will be forthcoming in the next few months. The full database will also be accessible through the museum website.
