Maungaturoto Market, held at the Centennial Hall on the first Friday of every month.

“It’s fantastic,” says organiser Terri Donaldson. “I took a survey last week and the stallholders are happy, the customers are over the moon with the products available.

“The produce is fresh and affordable and we really have a great selection. People also like the Friday evenings, which means that we are not clashing with other markets and that’s the idea.

“Having the market inside the hall is a real advantage as it can go ahead in any weather. We also work really hard to serve the stallholders and the good mood flows on to customers.”

Maungaturoto Markets two years on — fun, fresh and
affordable; rain, hail or shine

The market is organised by a sub committee of the Maungaturoto Resident’s Association and averages about 35 stall holders each month.

Terri says the market is continually growing and evolving and new stallholders and products are always welcome. “I organise the market alongside Jodi Hawken , with plenty of support from the rest of the Resident’s Association, our families and other people in the community. It’s a real community based endeavour, there is no one person in charge — it’s a good collective group and we all work together and help each other out.”

Maungaturoto Markets offers including fresh locally grown produce, arts and crafts, quality second-hand goods and antiques, seafood, olive oil, clothing, cosmetics and plants.
