On August 13 1914, 100 troops left the Wairarapa to head off overseas to fight in WW1.

We are having a re-enactment 100 years to the day to commemorate this auspicious occasion. 'Troops' will gather in Masterton Town Square and after speeches & songs they will march down towards the Masterton Railway Station where they will board a Steam Train. Vintage vehicles, horses, costumes and children will make this a spectacular event.

The Steam Train for this WW1 re-enactment Event is coming down from Feilding through Palmerston North. Tickets are available to take a step back in time and ride the rail through the beautiful Manawatu Gorge down to Masterton.

Come dressed in period costume to feel the sense of history and take part in the action.

Once at Masterton Railway station, you will be able to watch the troops march towards the Railway Station. Hear the Brass Band and Wairarapa Singers and help farewell the troops. A few themed food stalls will be at the Station.

Specially chartered buses will take you from Masterton Railway Station at 1.30pm to Mauriceville where you will meet the train, reboard and head back to the Manawatu.

The Steam Train departs Feilding Railway Station at 7.30am sharp and Palmerston North Railway Station 9.00am sharp.

Train arrives back at 17.20 Palmerston North and 18.10 in Feilding Railway Stations. Return arrival times are approximate.

Take a step back in time with a great day out riding the beautiful Steam Train and experience the re-enactment for our brave Anzac soldiers.

So all aboard and see you there!!

No refunds as the train and event will run rain or shine.
Tickes available on Dash or at Palmerston and Feilding I-Sites.
(Outlets may charge small booking fee).

This is part of the WW100 Anzac Commemorations.

This event is proudly supported by Dash Ticketing and Trust House.
