Throughout history, drawing was regarded as the foundation for artistic practice and is considered one of the major forms of expression and creativity.

Language of the Line is an exhibition celebrating the art of drawing, sketching and doodling and includes work by local and national artists using a wide variety of styles. Artists were asked to submit their un-mounted works in black ink, pencil, pen or charcoal on A3 sized white art paper.

“Keeping the brief simple and limiting use of materials and colour has challenged the artists to express their creativity and drawing skills in their own individual way while giving the exhibition itself a continuity of colour and size” says Exhibitions officer Kerence Stephen.

Over fifty artists have taken the challenge with most exhibiting up to two works all of which will be for sale.

Taupō Museum is open daily 10am to 4.30 pm and is free for all children and residents of the Taupō area.
