Cash And Celtic
Two powerful professional international recording artists together on the one night. Peter Caulton and Steve McDonald . Peter will be performing a program of Johnny Cash`s music and Steve will perform material from his million selling Celtic CD`S

Johnny Cash music and Celtic music fit together very well on one show as they both have strong lyrics and melodies.

Grammy nominated Kiwi country singer Peter Caulton presents an evening of Johnny Cash music. The show features songs from Mr Cash´s whole 48 year career. Peter has performed this show over the last 8 years at major events in Europe and is now bringing it back home. There are many songs we all know in the show and some songs that people might not have realised John recorded.

Some of the material Johnny recorded in his later years, from his Grammy Award winning American Recordings, were never performed live on stage due to his failing health. You will hear some of those songs performed live in this respectful tribute by Peter Caulton.

Peter has been a professional entertainer for over 30 years performing in over 20 countries. He featured on some of New Zealand's earliest country music TV programs. He has performed on shows with Emmy Lou Harris, Jerry Jeff Walker, Don Williams, Heather Miles, Dave Dudley, Kenny Rogers, The Burrito Brothers, George Hamilton the IV and Slim Whitman to name a few.

The show features songs from the 50 million records John sold in his lifetime. From his early Sun Record years, his 6 million selling prison albums, his ground breaking television show, his involvement with the "Highwayman" project with Waylon Jennings,Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson and songs from his hugely successful American Recordings up until his passing and beyond. His song "Ain`t No Grave Can Hold My Body Down" pretty much sums up the enduring musical legacy of the Man in Black.

Steve McDonald, as his name suggests, is of Scottish stock and proud of it, as was Johnny Cash. This is reflected in the passion he puts into every performance of his Celtic music creations along with a few Scottish traditional songs like Scotland the Brave, Loch Lomond and The Sky Boat Song. A show to stir the blood laddie.

In the early 1990's Steve produced the first of the five of his haunting Celtic CD`S which have now sold collectively over one million copies world wide, A feat few other New Zealand performers have ever achieved.

He has been a prominent figure in New Zealand music for the past twenty five years. His early days in the Wellington scene include the bands, "Dizzy Limit" (four top ten recordings)  "Timberjack" (Gold Disc nominees). Later he would join the Auckland legendary band "Human Instinct."

His first rise to prominence as a solo performer came in the 1980's when he won several significant song writing awards, including the ABU Asian Pacific Song Contest, in which twenty countries participated. From there he wrote many soundtracks for TV, including the American Cup Challenge and many other sports themes.

He tours the U.S. regularly and is the stepfather of Holly Smith who featured on some of his CD`S
This is a show for grown ups of any age group who love songs with substance that touch the heart and soul. A joyous celebration of the music of a show business Icon and a Kiwi Celtic Legend.
