Walk 7 - Island Ramble - Urapukapuka Island

Take a trip back in time and travel to Otehei Bay on the privately chartered R Tucker Thompspon, the gaff rigged tops’l schooner. Here you can relax and plot your course, choosing as much as you like of the islands 11 kilometer track network. Recently upgraded, the new track system provides walkers with a steady grade and loop walks of various lengths, taking you from beaches to fantastic viewpoints wth extensive vistas. Stop at historic and archaeolgical sites. Linger over views of Rakaumangamanga (Cape Brett Peninsula) on this, the largest of the Bay's 144 islands.

You must be at the Walking Weekend HQ (The Duke of Marlborough Tavern) 30 minutes before your walk starts for registration and briefing. A disclaimer will need to be signed prior to your first walk.

“Food” is the Bay of Islands premier food festival, the culinary festival has a stellar line-up of chefs, restaurants, producers, wineries and breweries. Every half hour there will be cooking demonstrations from local culinary producers. And of course live music. Food is an open event so it’s open to everyone, walkers and non walkers, as long as you are hungry you are advised to attend! And it is free entry.
