Part 2 History of Fashion: from the 17th century to modern times.

A four week course starting 2 October 2014 with Selwyn Community Education. Pre-enrolment essential as numbers are limited.

A thrilling journey through history seeing how fashion changed and responded to the age as seen through art, paintings and manuscripts. This course covers early times through to the Tudor Period.

Tutor: Priscilla Lowry is a medieval historian, author, teacher, designer, former Director of the Schuster Gallery, London. She has travelled extensively, doing research on silk for her books, giving lectures and workshops on medieval life and times, textiles, fashion, art and social history as depicted in medieval manuscripts and paintings. She has had exhibitions of her own work in silk and been national judge for textiles and wearable art in New Zealand, and co-hosted trips through China on the Silk Road, in the Footsteps of Marco Polo.

Selwyn Community Education is based at Selwyn College, Kohimarama Rd, Auckland. Our mission is to provide quality affordable and accessible lifelong learning opportunities for our community.
