Christchurch Art Gallery presents Dark Arts: Twenty years of the Holloway Press.

Established at the University of Auckland in 1994 by Peter Simpson and Alan Loney, and named after Ron Holloway (1909-2003) of the Griffin Press, the Holloway Press has been in the vanguard of fine printing in New Zealand for twenty years. The press produces beautifully designed, printed and bound books featuring leading New Zealand writers and artists, both contemporary and historical. Simpson’s own scholarship on New Zealand literature also features, with previously unpublished material released under the Holloway imprint. Sadly the Holloway Press is to close this year; Dark Arts: Twenty years of the Holloway Press marks this occasion with a selection of hand-printed books produced by the press.
