Hard Bop Mobley and Afro Cuban groove

Featuring
Greg Crayford - drums
James Tait-Jamieson - tenor saxophone
Mike Booth - trumpet
Miles Crayford - piano
Mostyn Cole - double bass
Rafael Ferrer Noel - percussion / vocals

The Pleasure Point Sextet is a powerful and exciting group that plays a wide variety of styles, unique arrangements of hard-driving hard bop in the style of Hank Mobley, Horace Silver, Roy Hargrove and others, infectious Afro-Cuban and salsa rhythms, Latin jazz, originals, straight-ahead swing, soulful blues and beautiful ballads .

The group was formed in 2005 when California-based pianist Steve Abrams came to Wellington, and played several successful concerts. It was named after a famous surfing spot in Santa Cruz, California, down the street from O'Neill's Surf Shop headquarters, near Steve’s house.

Pleasure Point Sextet is led by Greg Crayford on drums. The hard-driving rhythm section also showcases Cuban-born percussionist, vocalist and dancer, Rafael Ferrer Noel, Mostyn Cole on bass, and pianist, Miles Crayford, playing arrangements by Steve Abrams, and features a stellar front line of James Tait-Jamieson, tenor saxophone and for CJC, Mike Booth on, trumpet.
