Many of MTG’s exhibitions celebrate the style and stories of the interwar years. Don’t miss our beautiful art deco decorative arts display; the exhibition A Glorious Uncertainty, featuring the ceramics and metalwork of Havelock North artist Elizabeth Matheson and our new 1931 Hawke’s Bay Earthquake exhibition.
A visit to MTG includes a chance to see the lovingly restored interior of Louis Hay’s magnificent 1936 art gallery and museum building. This restoration recently won an NZIA Heritage Architecture award.
The MTG Shop has a range of unique Art Deco inspired merchandise, including some brand new cards featuring MTG’s fabulous art deco frocks and a delightful map of Napier, celebrating the special character and style of the newest city on the globe.

From the 19 – 23 February 2014, ladies and gents dressed in Art Deco attire will receive a $5 discount on adult museum entry. MTG Friends and children under 15 are free. We will be open daily from 10am-6pm.
