The cell has been opened - it's time to visit the Divine Marquis . . .

'de Sade' is the story behind the perverted philosophical powerhouse, the Marquis de Sade. Infamous for his pornographic writings, his horrific lifestyle, for living in an asylum, or giving his name to sadism - but nothing will beat meeting him in the flesh.

A one man show written and performed by Alexander Sparrow, 'de Sade' opens the cell doors of the darkest mind in history. Speaking directly with his guests, the Marquis reveals how he came to be locked up, shares the gritty details of his personal life, and teaches everyone about the joys of complete sexual liberty.

Complete with unbelievable audience demonstrations and improvisation, audiences don’t watch de Sade, they meet and speak with him . . . no other performer has ever embodied the Divine Marquis quite like this. As the Dominion Post, one of New Zealand’s biggest newspapers said: “Sparrow brings de Sade back to life”.

A dark performance with superb comedic interaction, this is a show not to be missed.
