Learn Aikido this August at our new sunny and comfortable purpose-fitted dojo in Avondale!

Aikido is performed by blending with the motion of the attacker and redirecting the force of the attack rather than opposing it head-on. This requires very little physical strength, as the aikidōka (aikido practitioner) "leads" the attacker's momentum using entering and turning movements. The techniques are completed with various throws or joint locks.

The Aikido taught by Sensei Nishimura is both effective and effortless. You will be taught techniques that require very little physical strength and therefore, training is suitable for all people, male and female - regardless of size or strength. Beginners are assessed individually by instructors where lessons will be carefully designed to cater for all levels attending.

The Dojo is located in the main stand of the Avondale Racecourse: access is via double blue doors on the field side of the main stand steps. Contact 021 592 151 if further clarification is needed.
