Acrylic painting - Glass fusing & Lampworking

Opening Thursday 28th August, 5PM

A journey of discovery in abstract art through two mediums - acrylic painting and glass fusing and lampworking.

“While making both, I find my best work comes when I give little thought as to how I begin. As the piece develops, I see colour, shape, a theme develops and the piece is finished. Purely abstract in the beginning, the pieces often loose some of the expressive abstract elements and take on a more structured guise when complete.”

"While each of these mediums requires a completely different skill set and emotional space, they have much in common. I have been working with glass for nearly ten years and have not grown tired of its inclination towards mischief while in it's melted state: Results are either pleasantly surprising or an unmitigated disaster. Painting has been a more recent development, a naturally occurring extension of the glass work. Unlike glass, which is rarely able to be changed once it it cool, painting is more forgiving and allows me a far more experimental approach."
