A Mount Maunganui woman's small fundraising idea has snowballed into a four-charity black tie dinner event.

Jessica Gordon, 26, had an idea to hold a dinner to raise money for Baby Watoto Uganda, a charity she is involved in.

When fashion designer Annah Stretton heard of the dinner, she told Miss Gordon she would involve her RAW (Reclaim Another Woman) charity and would speak at the event.

Upon meeting with Denise Arnold of Cambodia Charitable Trust in town one day, another charity was added to the line up, then Lavina Good of Good Neighbour Food Rescue decided to get involved.

The four charities together make up the beneficiaries of A Soiree Four Charity, to be held at Trinity Wharf on August 22. The profits will be split between the four charities.

"It's basically bringing together these four charities that all have the same focus but in different ways. These are inspiring woman who are really doing their piece to make the world a better place each in their own unique ways"

All four women involved in the charities will speak about their work on the night.

A mixture of different raffles will be drawn with prizes donated by local businesses. Will Johnston from "The Hits" radio station will be MC on the night,

The event is a night where people can come and get dressed up, have a nice dinner and listen to a couple of people doing work out there that we don't know about as much as we should."
