Discover different types of carvings on display at Rotorua Museum in this fun discovery trail.

Collect the activity sheet from reception and use this to guide you around the Museum. Explore carvings and patterns in Nga Pumanawa o Te Arawa and learn how early Maori ancestors told stories through carvings. Visit Matatoki – Contemporary Maori Carvings where todays artists put a modern twist on traditional carving methods.

This unique discovery trail runs from 21 December 2013 until Sunday 26 January 2014.

Participation in the Whakairo Discovery Trail is included in Rotorua Museum’s admission price. Adults $20, seniors $18 and children $8. Entry for Rotorua residents is free of charge with relevant ID.
