MTG Hawke's Bay, 1 Tennyson St, Napier Show map

All Ages

Ūkaipō is our identity, our home ground, our upbringing, our mothers. Its literal meaning is ‘being fed at the breast at night’. We acknowledge our ūkaipō when we visit our homeland, in recalling childhood memories and when we are reminded of past generations.

In Ūkaipō – ō tātou whakapapa, we invite visitors to discover the stories of the hapū of Hawke’s Bay, explored through MTG’s significant taonga Māori collection.

Museum entry prices apply.

21 September 2013 – 3 August 2014
