The Extreme Tru Test, 24 hour solo outdoor velodrome cycle. Target 650km by a new OAP, fundraiser for CANTEEN Manawatu.

65 year old Colin Anderson, Palmerston North Cycling Postie, former benchmark NZ record holder @ 672 km set some 8 years ago at the same Johnstone Park Feilding velodrome & extended by a 40 year old to 692km in 2012.

One cyclist - one complete day - one awesome support crew.

Weather dependant, the official Bike NZ, 650 km attempt will start @ 10am Friday 18th January to 10am Saturday 19th January.

If the Manawatu winds are still prevalent reserve dates of track booking & official attendance have been made for January 19th Saturday to Sunday 20th January or Feb 4th Monday to Feb 5th Tuesday or Feb 5th Tuesday to Feb 6th Wednesday (Waitangi Day), all 10am-10am.

Colin is the current record holder for:
- Solo cycling Cape Reinga- Bluff (2158km) 4 days 17hrs 40mins,
- 24 hours Solo Indoor Velodrome 660km set in 2008
- Most completed laps of the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge - 67 laps over a consecutive 24 year span, including a 24 hour solo velodrome ride followed by a 160 km cycle of the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge.
- Colin has also ridden in many international Long distance cycles, including the 1200 km Boston-Montreal-Boston & Paris-Brest-Paris, 24 hours Le Mans France & numerous shorter races of 250+km distances in Australia. Not too bad for a totally reformed heavy smoker of some 20+ years ago!

Photo image- Paris France at completion of 1200km 4th placing of 130 Australasian team, almost 3 days of rain & wind! Unpleasant: yes. Of the 5300 starters some 1500 DNF, mainly because of the rain/wind/low temperatures - ideal NZ conditions.

Would be really fantastic to have your support during the cycle - especially in the wee small hours of the night/early am. You can't sleep, well - come down to the Velodrome. Open all hours 10am-10am.

Guess my total distance cycled for gold coin donation - great prizes. All donations to Canteen Manawatu - Help these youngsters suffering from cancer. Help me kick cancer's @ss!
