Jill Walker and Brian Potiki have been bringing stories alive with songs and story theatre (including puppets and bucket-drums, bright cloths, windsocks) since 1983 when they were invited to run a children’s art workshop at a Hui on the Wanganui River.

Jill is a singer, multimedia artist and community art worker. Once a chartered accountant, her work for 30 years has been in performance, arts and storytelling, a love first kindled in childhood with grandma telling the tales from Hans Christian Anderson and the brothers Grimm.

She became inspired to be a “performing storyteller” after meeting and working with Invercargill’s ‘Dreamweaver’ Liz Miller when she and Brian and their baby daughter lived for a year in Bluff in 1985.

Brian Potiki has a degree in literature, is a play-write, poet, songwriter, drummer, director, actor, writer with two books published (a NZ Book Council author).

Both are passionate readers and are glad to live near Rotorua with its superb public library.

All welcome to this event which is part of the Summer Reading Programme, kindly sponsored by the Eastern and Central Community Trust.
