The New Story: Reimagining our Lives
with Louisa Walker

6 July 9-3pm

Our sense of ourselves is rooted in the stories we tell — and are told — about the world we live in. These well-known stories form our reality, which has been left unquestioned, until now. An explosion of developments is occurring in physics, the biological sciences, cosmology, medicine, and technology. As a result, the very story of ourselves in the universe as we’ve known it is rapidly being rewritten.

We are living in a pivotal period in the history of humankind. We are challenged to question our sense of reality. How do we reinterpret and ‘reimagine’ ourselves to create a new story that is our own?
Thomas Berry, theologian, depth ecologist and self-described 'earth scholar' put it this way:
'We are in trouble now because we are in between stories. The Old Story - the account of how the world came to be and how we fit into it - sustained us for a long time. It shaped our emotional attitudes, provided us with life purpose, and energized action. We awoke in the morning and knew where we were. everything was taken care of because the story was there. But now it is no longer functioning properly, and we have not yet learned the New Story'.

In this workshop we will explore elements of the 'new story', what they mean and how they affect us. We will ask how we can develop our own ‘new story', imagining what it would look like and feel like. We will explore:

Consciousness as a fundamental quality of the universe, not simply a function or a by-product of the brain

How do we understand and experience ‘non-local consciousness’

Reports of Near Death Experiences (NDEs) that challenge our beliefs about life, death, our purpose, and the meaning of existence.

The role of the heart: biologically, energetically, symbolically and practically

We will consider startling new ways of understanding ourselves in the world in practical terms. We will consider how you can reimagine your own life in terms of a new story that offers healing, inspiration and transformation.
