Dear woman, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister!

I welcome and invite you to the March Red Tent in Hawke's Bay... We will gather a day after a dark moon - on 13th of March at 18:00.

What is Red Tent?

Red Tent is a time off.
A time for woman to rest & connect with herself, her moontime and her womb.A time to nourish & nurture herself, to share stories, dreams, wisdom over a cup of tea, to massage, write in your journal, meditate, dance, rest or simply emerge yourself in sisterhood.

I wrote few notes for those who are wondering what Moonlodge or Red Tent is.

Red Tent

"If you want to destroy a village - destroy a MoonLodge - a Red tent." - Native American proverb

In ancient times woman would go to Moonlodges or Red tents to restrain themselves from community, to bleed in peace, to nurture and listen the wisdom of their bodies. The veil between Life & Death is very thin during our bleeding, so we have an access to go deep into ourselves, to let go of what doesn't serve us anymore and to dream the seeds of intentions for what we want to manifest later as the moon waxes.

In 1997 Anita Diamant wrote a book Red Tent that brought a huge revival of a Red Tent movement.
The story is based on a biblical story of Dinah, daughter of Jacob and sister of Joseph. Dinah is a minor character in the Bible, but the author has broadened her story. The book's title refers to the tent in which women of Jacob's tribe must, according to the ancient law, take refuge while menstruating or giving birth, and in which they find mutual support and encouragement from their mothers, sisters and aunts.

It captures the knowledge of sisterhood, woman's cycle and midwifing.

The book inspired & encouraged women around the globe to rebuild this ancient knowledge of women's wisdom & gathering.

Things We Don't Talk About is an amazing documentary on Red tents created by Isadora Leidenfrost

For whom:
Red tent or traditionally Moonlodge is for women of all ages... Girls & maidens who just started bleeding, mothers, matriarchs and crones - woman who bleed no more. The focus is not just on the bleeding as much as it is focused on honoring our womanhood journeys in all our many stages. You don't have to bleed in order to come to The Red tent!

What happens in a Red Tent:
Red Tent is a time off.
Each Red Tent is different, depends on a circle that gathered.
Red Tent is a time for woman to rest & connect with herself & connect with other woman.
To connect with her moon time & her womb.
A time to nourish & nurture herself, to share stories, dreams, wisdom over a cup of tea, to massage, write in your journal, meditate, dance, rest or simply immerse yourself in sisterhood.

What to bring:
Wear something red
A red, orange or pink candle
Some vegetarian food or drink to share
