This concert will feature rarely heard but stunningly beautiful repertoire for voice, viola and piano by four Germans, two Russians, an Austrian and an American.

While most are very well known, Joseph Marx and Johann Kalliwoda are relatively unknown romantic era composers from Austria and Germany respectively. Margaret Medlyn, Donald Maurice and Jian Liu will be performing for the first time as a trio, bringing together a wealth of experience as soloists and chamber musicians.

- Bach: Ich, dein betrübtes Kind
- Brahms: Zwei Gesänge
- Hindemith: Des Todes Tod
- Marx : Durch Einsamkeiten
- Kalliwoda: Heimathlied
- Tchaikovsky: Do not believe, my friend
- Tchaikovsky: None but the lonely heart
- Rachmaninoff: O sing no more Circassian Maid
- Bernstein: Dream with me

This concert is part of NZSM's Friday Lunchtime Concert series held each week during Trimesters 1 and 2. The concert venue alternates each week between the Adam Concert Room (ACR) on the Kelburn Campus, and the NZSM Concert Hall on the Mt Cook Campus.

Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music is a joint enterprise of Massey University and Victoria University of Wellington.
