Clare Galmbos-Winter performed with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra for over 30 years. She has generously gifted NZSM with two fine violins: one attributed as ca 19th century Hungarian and the other as ca 18th century Italian. They are to be used by promising students: one undergraduate and one postgraduate NZSM violin student. In addition, Clare has endowed the School with two financial scholarships: again for for an undergraduate and one for a postgraduate student.

In this concert Arna Shaw and Julian Baker, respectively the postgraduate and undergraduate recipients of the violins, and Kate Oswin and Salina Fisher, respectively the postgraduate and undergraduate recipients of the Galambos-Winter Scholarships, will perform. Clare herself will be guest of honour. The programme will include movements from works by Mozart, Saint-Saens, Faure, Bartok and Szymanowski accompanied by Rafaella Garlick-Grice (piano).

The concert is free and members of the public are welcome.

Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music is a joint enterprise of Massey University and Victoria University of Wellington.
