The weekly NZSM Friday Lunchtime concert is transposed from the NZSM Concert Hall to the Hub at Victoria University for this special concert.

Rattle Records is one of New Zealand's leading recording companies with a catalogue that spans across all genres of music from Classical to Jazz and alternative/contemporary composition. Many NZSM performers and composers – staff, alumni, students and colleagues – have had their works and performances recorded, produced and released on the Rattle label. Victoria University have just purchased Rattle and so now the iconic label is a division of Victoria University Publishing.

In celebration of this new development, NZSM is delighted to present three lunchtime concerts in the Hub at Victoria University. This third concert features senior NZSM jazz lecturers Dr Rodger Fox (trombone), Colin Hemmingsen (reeds), Mark Donlon (piano), Lance Philip (drums) and special guest, Tom Warrington (bass) from Los Angeles. Rodger, Lance and Colin are represented on the Rattle label through the recently release The Capitol Sessions with the Wellington Jazz Orchestra. Colin also appears on several albums with Norman Meehan and Lance was one of the percussionist on the award winning View from Olympus and Ukiyo albums featuring the music of NZSM Professor John Psathas.

In this entertaining lunchtime concert, The Rodger Fox Quintet is '40 Years and Grooving' – playing a touch of Latin, a pinch of Funk and some hard out Swing – this is Jazz!

CDs will be available for sale following the concert.

Te Kōkī, New Zealand School of Music is a joint enterprise of Massey University and Victoria University of Wellington.
