I Am Giant

Rock fans can get their fix for free at this concert featuring international rockers, I Am Giant with support from Fire at Will, Ekko Park and 71 Sunset. There’s plenty of activity over the Music in Parks season.

I Am Giant have amassed a huge worldwide following with four #1 rock singles and a platinum album in New Zealand, opening for Slash in Australia, a UK tour with Taking Back Sunday, performances at Big Day Out in Auckland and Sydney, opening for Stone Temple Pilots in Singapore, touring throughout Asia several times, and playing the prestigious Viper Room and Mercury Lounge in the US.
Pure, unadulterated rock, with its heart on its sleeve and an unquenchable fire in its soul I am Giant return to NZ fresh off the back of a massive European tour.

Fire at Will are a hard rock band currently making a name for themselves as a top live act. Made up of members of former Auckland band ‘My Asylum’ and South African rock icons ‘The Narrow’, Fire at Will take the stage with the energy and professionalism that leaves audiences “wowed”. Guitarists Josh and Kev and rhythm section Will and Charlie give a solid and dynamic to the vocal powerhouse that is Hanu De Jong. Make this a must-see gig this summer.

Born in Auckland in 2010, Ekko Park is a 4 piece rock band that comes with a great New Zealand pedigree. Ekko Park's brand of guitar driven, melodic rock has earned them a reputation as a dynamic live machine, encouraging a rapidly growing and loyal fanbase.

Drawing from collective influences ranging from classic rock through alt/indie, experimental, grunge and metal, 71 Sunset have created a unique sound in the often cliché realm of modern rock. Epic hooks, thundering rhythms and an underlying air of surrealism provide the foundations of their creative power.

Keep up to date via our Facebook and twitter pages, or sign up for email updates on the Music in Parks website throughout the summer.

Auckland Council’s Music in Parks 2013 programme features over 40 performances from January 2, 2012 – March 24, 2013.
