Makertorium

Makertorium is a showcase of Kiwi ingenuity, with creators, tinkerers and inventors from all over the country heading to Te Papa on April 27th. Doors open at 10 am until 6 pm with over fifty exhibitions and installations spread over eight zones, including 3D Printers, the Anzac Periscope Challenge and the Eggs Prize launch at 2 pm.

The first exhibition of this kind to be held in New Zealand, attendees will experience some of the best craft, design, tinkering and inventing in the country from Bristlebots in Dunedin to The Diamond Age in Auckland. Including hands-on workshops for mini-makers to learn about LEDS, electronics, digital and design, make a rocket or a World War One style periscope.

Head to the Icon Room on Level One to visit the 3D Petting Zoo and watch 3D printers in action making real objects from digital models. Explore Digital, Electronics and Education exhibits, take part in the Anzac Periscope Challenge and watch Makertorium TV being made live and streamed worldwide from the giant Makerbooth.

On Level Two visit the Tweet Me interactive forest, see an open-sourced Wikihouse and UAV flying machine, learn more about local NZ Makerspaces and take part in workshops throughout the Craft Zone. Watch Blunt Force Trauma Robots battle in the Robot Zone, or visit the Outdoor Arena (outside and through the Red Gates) to see Makercrate - a Makerspace in a shipping crate, and to test a rocket you have designed yourself.

“with special guest appearances on Makertorium TV and a Rube Goldberg machine to launch the Eggs Prize, Makertorium will be a fun day out for all ages so tell all your inventive friends!”

Makertorium is a joint venture between The Wellington Makerspace, Makers Org NZ, Mohawk Media, Diatom Studio, pixelbrid and Marmalade Monkey, supported by Wellington City Council and hosted by Te Papa.
