START

Stuttering is common during the preschool years and although lots of children 'grow out' of it, not all of them will. It's important to receive information and advice early on, as treatment is most effective at this age. This workshop will help you understand what stuttering is, and why young children stutter. You will come away with tips on how to interact with a child who stutters, and when to get further help. Janelle is a speech language therapist and works for START (Stuttering Treatment and Research Trust), a charitable trust that provides information and advice, raises awareness of stuttering and treats people of all ages who stutter.

Janelle Irvine
Janelle has worked as a speech language therapist for over 15 years and has specialised in working with young children who stutter for the last three years. She is a mum of two school age children.
