Hungry Mile Theatre presents:
Home / The Hilarious Comedy About How I Nearly Killed Myself / A Play About How I Nearly Died But Didn't Then Learned A Lot About Life Afterward.

Based on a true story, this one woman play follows writer/performer Freya Desmarais on her journey to rock bottom and back. Includes: taniwhas, ovaries, Celine Dion, a round of applause for thighs and a blow job gag (pardon the pun.) This 'mental' comedy is coloured by life lessons that apply to anyone who has ever felt unsure of themselves (hint: everybody). Home gives the truth about living through depression and attempts to do so with the Freya’s story using her unapologetic truth with her kiwi dry wit. The audience follows Freya throughout her whole journey and shows that there can be a light at the end of the tunnel even in the darkest moments.

Home attempts to open up a very important discussion in a fun and utterly distinctive way. The show will also be incorporating some fancy projection to the creative set design by Penny Lawrence (yes she’s the director as well!).

Penny has just finished her Honours in Theatre and is using what she has learnt from her research of technology within set design within her thesis to create a set that will make Home stand out. The show has something to say, talking candidly about suicidal thinking, depression and the ability to accept one’s self.

Even with these heavy issues Freya incorporates her awk-ilarious (awkward/hilarious) life and creates her comedic 28 word titled show Home / The Hilarious Comedy About How I Nearly Killed Myself / A Play About How I Nearly Died But Didn't Then Learned A Lot About Life Afterward - which basically gives everything away.

Contains lots of adult references, adult themes and quite a bit of swearing and that.

Duration: 60 Minutes.
