The Hastings Host Lions is holding its annual Book Sale this November, fundraising for Lions projects within the Hawke’s Bay community.

Each year since its inception, some 26 years ago, a dedicated team of volunteers from the Hastings Host Lions Club have spent hundreds of hours, over several months sorting and collating books in preparation for the sale. 2013 is no different with tens of thousands of books, magazines and Puzzles donated from members of the community.

“Our annual Book Sale has become a real ‘must do’ for book lovers and collectors” says Alan Harvey of the Hastings Host Lions. “Buyers come from all over NZ and line up ready for the doors to open and over the two days the bookworms just keep coming to sort through the thousands and thousands of volumes available for sale”.
Hastings Host Lions believes there are many 1st addition books among the many books and are confident that there are bargains for everyone.

All profits from the Hastings Host Lions Club annual Book Sale go back in to the community with hundreds of thousands of dollars donated since the events inception. This year the Book Sale will assist the Club to make a considerable donation towards their pledge of $50,000 to the recent redevelopment of the Ronald McDonald House in Wellington – which is used by hundreds of Hawkes Bay families each year.

Over the years the Book Sale proceeds have helped out many other Hawke's Bay community projects and groups including the Weka Point Restoration project, Heretaunga Seniors, Brain Injury Hawkes Bay, Haumoana Volunteer Fire Brigade, Cranford Hospice, Camp Quality and many many more.

The 2013 Hastings Host Lions Club Book Sale is being held at the Hawke's Bay Showgrounds in Hastings Saturday 16th from 8am – 4pm and Sunday 17th from 9am – 1pm. Admission is Free and there is plenty of Free parking available.
